A little preparation, a beautiful result
Your installation, step by step
These steps cover our fully assembled wall frames. If you selected an unassembled kit, follow the assembly instructions supplied with your order first.
What you’ll need
- Tape measure, pencil and spirit level
- A clean cloth for surface preparation
- Decorator’s caulk and a caulking gun for finishing
- Paint and a brush; primer if you chose natural wood
- Fine sandpaper and wood filler if needed
Before you start
Your wall should be clean, dry, smooth and sound. Remove dust and loose or flaking paint. Allow new paint to cure according to the paint manufacturer’s guidance.
Check your frame sizes, chosen layout and the instructions supplied before removing any adhesive backing.
Plan and mark your layout
Enter your wall measurements into our layout tool and choose your design. Use the generated spacing to lightly mark each frame’s position on your wall.
Check the marks with a spirit level, and check how the layout fits around sockets, switches and other features.

Peel, position and press
Hold the frame against your marks and check it is level before removing the backing. Once you’re happy with its position, peel off the protective backing and carefully apply the frame.
Press firmly along the frame to make full contact with the wall. Check your spacing as you work across the layout.
For international orders, frames wider than 79 cm may be folded for shipping. If yours arrive folded, follow the joining instructions supplied before fitting.
Finish, paint and admire
For a seamless finish, apply a fine bead of decorator’s caulk where the frames meet the wall. Fill and lightly sand any small wood imperfections where needed.
If you selected natural wood, prepare and prime it before painting. Allow filler, caulk and primer to dry according to their manufacturers’ instructions, then apply your chosen paint.
Choose the finish that suits you
Fully assembled: the frames are made for you. Unassembled: the pieces arrive cut to size for you to assemble.
DIY primed: a primer coat has been applied; minor preparation may still be needed. Natural wood: prepare and prime before painting. Check the finish selected on your order.

Before you fit your frames
Do I need to cut or assemble the frames?
For the fully assembled option, the frames are already cut and assembled. If you choose an unassembled kit, you’ll assemble the pre-cut pieces yourself. Dado rails may need trimming to suit your wall. For international orders, frames wider than 79 cm may arrive folded and require the joining steps supplied with your order.
Can I fit the panels to an uneven or textured wall?
The adhesive needs good contact with a clean, dry, smooth and sound surface. If your wall is textured, uneven or has loose paint, contact us with a photo before fitting so we can advise on preparation.
Can I move a frame after sticking it?
Check the layout and level before removing the backing. Avoid relying on repositioning once the adhesive has made contact with the wall. Removal may affect the adhesive or the wall finish.
Do primed panels need any preparation?
Our frames are made from real wood and supplied with a DIY primer finish when selected. Natural grain, knots and small imperfections may need light filling or sanding before your final paint finish.
Will my frames arrive folded?
For international shipping only, frames wider than 79 cm may be folded, depending on the order. Not every international order will contain folded frames. If yours arrive folded, follow the joining instructions supplied with your order and use the supplied glue as directed before fitting. Contact us if you need help with the join.
